CHILDREN'S ART PROGRAM  - Instructor, Anne Thwaites.  Phone:  245-0580.  This program is for children First Grade through Middle School.  The instructional fee is $38 per month plus $10 for the materials that are furnished ($48).  Varied media will be used to teach basic drawing, design, painting, and clay modeling.  The classes begin on September 3, and are held on Wednesday 3:30 a.m. (Homeschool Class), 4:30 – 5:30, or 6 – 7 p.m., Thursday from 4:30 - 5:30, or 6 - 7 p.m., or Friday from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. continuing through the fall.  Pre-registration with the instructor required.  Please telephone the instructor before coming to the class.                                     

ADULT MIXED MEDIA  – Instructor, Anne Thwaites.  Phone: 245-0580.  This class is open to High School students or adults.  The instructional fee is $8 per lesson.  Classes are entirely individualized with each student choosing their own media and project and working at their own level.  Fine Arts processes, such as, sketching, pastels, watercolor, oil or acrylic painting, figure drawing, and pastel portraits are some instructional possibilities.  The course begins on September 4, 9 – 12 noon, and continues through the fall on Thursdays.

PAINTING WITH ACRYLICS AND OILS – Instructor, Anne Thwaites.  Phone:  245-0580.  This course is for High School Students and Adults.  The instructional fee is $48 per month.  Classes are entirely individualized with each student working at their own level.  Students will learn basic techniques using acrylic or oil paint for various applications, such as, glazing, impasto, collage, etc.  The course begins on September 8, on Monday 6 - 7:30 p.m. and continues through the fall.  Pre-registration with the instructor is required.

 CREATIVE DRAWING - Instructor, Charles Meek, 969 Beechwood Drive, Kingsport, TN  37663.  Phone:  239-5246.  The instructional fee is $8 per class.  This will be a course in basic sketching with charcoal, pencil, pen and ink and pastels, plus critiquing of artwork.  The classes take place beginning September 18 until October 30 for 7 sessions, on Thursdays, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.   Prepayment and pre-registration required.   Make checks payable to the instructor.

GELATIN PROCESS MONOTYPE – One Day Class - Making Gifts/Cards  - Instructor, Kathy Gibian, 20130 Avondale Road, Abingdon, VA  24211. Phone: (276) 676-4466.  The instructional fee is $35.  This is a class in making monotypes using a gelatin plate.  Materials needed:  brushes, brayers, sketchpad, wax paper, palette knife, photos or sketches, and watercolors.  We will be working small with the intention of making holiday gifts and greetings.  Paper may be purchased from the instructor.  The class is on Wednesday, December 10, from 9:30 – 2:30 p.m.  Pre-registration and prepayment required.   Make checks payable to the instructor. 

EXPLORING PASTELS – One Day Class - Instructor, Paul deMarrais, 4023 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN  37660   Phone:  343-7746.   E-mail:  pastelpaul@earthlink.net   The instructional fee is $50. This class will cover many aspects and attributes of the wonderful medium of pastel from creating a sanded surface, understanding of color values to using mixed media with pastel and learning how to layer pastel to create exciting color. Along the way we will no doubt explore some of the many other issues of picture making! The class is on Wednesday, November 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Prepayment and pre-registration are required. EVENING DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASS – Instructor, Steven Reeves.  Phone:  (423) 767-0858.  Website: stevenreevesart.com  Email: steven@stevenreevesart.com  This course is open to High School Students and Adults.  The instructional fee is $10 per class.  Perspective, color theory, drawing and painting (including still life, landscape, and "from the imagination" and more) are taught.  The course begins on September 9, and continues through the fall on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.   Please contact the instructor prior to class for registration and further information.

PAPERMAKING AND PAPERCASTING – One Day Class - Instructor, Byron Kindig, 5121 Red Robin Lane, Kingsport, TN  37664.  Phone:  (423) 863-2864.  E-mail:  byron@paraisoenterprises.com    The instructional fee is $30 plus $20 for the materials and tools that are furnished ($50).   In this class we will be learning the basics of making paper with and without embedded objects such as dried flowers and carving a simple mold for creating a sculpted paper shape. The class is on Saturday, September 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with an hour break for lunch.  A minimum of 6 students are required.  Prepayment and pre-registration are mandatory 2 weeks in advance. Introduction to Computer 3D Art and AnimatioN –  Room 228 – Instructor,  Byron Kindig, 5121 Red Robin Lane, Kingsport, TN  37664.  Phone:  (423) 863-2864. E-mail:  byron@paraisoenterprises.com   The instructional fee is $138 for 3 sessions. This class will take us from an understanding of digital media, to creation of 3D objects, materials, textures, and animation using Blender software that can be downloaded for free at www.blender.org.  Bring your own laptop.  The class is on Saturdays, October 4, 18, and November 1, from  9 –  5 p.m. Prepayment and pre-registration required.  Make checks payable to the instructor.
