ACRYLIC PAINTING - ALL LEVELS:    Instructor: Thelma Wyatt.  Monday mornings, April  5, 12, 19, 26 and  May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31.   9 - noon.  These classes will be for those beginning to paint in acrylic paints, or those interested in continuing in their development with acrylics.  Materials list available at first meeting.  Students provide own supplies.   FREE TO GUILD MEMBERS.  Others Fee: $35.  Contact Thelma for more information: 423-292-8787 or tecwjtw50@yahoo.com

HOW TO GET BETTER PHOTOS - ESPECIALLY WITH POINT AND SHOOT DIGITALS:  Instructor:  J. T. Wyatt.  Sunday afternoon, April  11.  2 - 4:00 pm. and  Sunday afternoon, April 18.  2 - 4:00 pm.  Most of our images are artistic disasters; we will lean why, and learn the cures.  Wasted pixels are wasted points in time, never to be recaptured; we should learn to seize the photographic moment.  GUILD MEMBERS - $10.  Others’ Fee: $20.  Contact Jimmy for more information: 423-292-8787 or tecwjtw50@yahoo.com   

DRAWING and PAINTING: 
 Instructor: Steven Reeves.   Monday evenings, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, April 5, 12, 19, 26. and/or May 3, 10, 17, 24.   Open to high school students and adults, beginners to advanced levels.  Learn to draw and/or paint from life, reference materials, and from the imagination.  Fee: $44 per month ($11 per class).  For more information, contact Steven at 423-767-0858 or steven@stevenreevesart.com

CHILDREN’S ART EXPLORATION: UNCHARTED ARENAS:   Instructor: Katie Carrico -
Second Saturday of each month,  April 10, and/or May 8.  1–3pm.  1st–8th grade.  Students will set off on a crazy adventure, exploring the unusual visual arts, both 2D and 3D.  Some of the rare topics will be sculpture, textiles, and craft. Each student will explore a variety of the less common art forms and have a good time.  Instructor will supply all materials unless notified. PORTRAIT AND FIGURE PAINTING:   Instructor:  Carmine Trombetta – Fridays, April 9, 16, 23, 30.  9:00 am –12 noon. This course involves student-teacher interaction with painting demonstrations.  Topics covered are painting materials and supplies, brushes, palette setup, layout and composition, color values, and blocking-in your painting in relation to tonal values.  My approach to painting the portrait is a direct or alla prima realist approach.  The student will learn the techniques of traditional portrait and figure painting. INTRODUCTION TO METAL CLAY: EARRINGS:  Instructor: Edith White –
Saturday , April 3. 1–4 pm; OR Saturday, May 15.  1:00 – 4:00 pm.  Adults.  LIMIT OF SIX STUDENTS.  Students will learn the basics of working with Metal Clay, and will learn to roll, texture, sand, fire (using a torch), and finish silver clay.  A finished piece will be a pair of earrings in fine silver, ready to take home.  Materials will be supplied by the teacher, who is a certified ART CLAY instructor.  Fee: $85.  For more information, contact Edith at 423-378-4737 or 423-914-0720 (cell) or ewhite@smokymountainbeads.com

INTERMEDIATE
METAL CLAY:  NECKLACE PENDANT:  Instructor:  Edith White – Saturday, April 17. 1-4:00  pm OR Saturday, May 29, 1:00 - 4:00 pm.  Prerequisite: Introduction to Metal Clay or previous experience with Metal Clay. LIMIT OF 6 STUDENTS.  Adults.  Students will learn metal clay techniques working with dual finishes, making a bail, and setting stones. ART HISTORY:  Instructor: Tony Henson

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR :  Instructor: Theresa Markiw
– Wednesdays , April 7, 14, 21, 28.  12 – 3:00 pm. Adults.  This course is an introduction to watercolor, and is geared to participants who have little or no experience with the medium, or who may have tried watercolor before, but wish to refresh their understanding of the basics.  Various watercolor techniques will be explained and demonstrated during the classes.  Supplies will be discussed and demonstrated during the first class and a supply list will be distributed then.  Do not purchase any new supplies until after the first class.  Fee: $100.  For more information, contact Theresa at 423-743-4478 or theresamarkiw@yahoo.com

INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR :  Instructor: Theresa Markiw

WATERCOLOR PAINTING AS A JOURNEY: CREATING A SERIES OF WORK :  Instructor: Ellen Elmes –
Saturday, April 24 – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.  Minimum of 10 people.  Workshop will jumpstart participants in utilizing watercolor painting for a long-term exploration of a personal and vital theme to create a series.
